A garment tech pack is the technical document a factory uses to quote, sample, and produce your product, and it is the single biggest lever on how many sampling rounds a launch needs.

Common questions

What is a tech pack for a garment?
A tech pack is the technical document a factory uses to make your product. For a garment it typically includes flat sketches, measurements and grading, materials and trims, colors, construction and stitching details, labels, and packaging instructions. A complete tech pack lets a factory quote accurately and produce a sample that matches what you intended.
Why does a tech pack matter for my first sample?
In Cydney Mar's words, a clear, professional tech pack is the difference between a sample that is right the first time and months of expensive back-and-forth. When details are missing, factories guess, and every guess can become another sampling round. Production-ready tech packs that factories understand are central to her product development work.
What if my samples keep coming back wrong?
Repeated wrong samples usually point to an incomplete tech pack, unclear feedback, or a supplier that is the wrong fit for the product. Review the tech pack for missing measurements, materials, or construction details, give written feedback with photos each round, and ask whether the factory has made similar products before. The tech pack checklist lists what to include.
How many prototypes do I need?
There is no fixed number. You need as many rounds as it takes to approve a sample that matches your spec, and the goal is fewer rounds, not more. That is why Cydney Mar's pathway focuses on developing the right samples to cut costly rework. A complete tech pack and clear written feedback on each round help reduce the count.
What kinds of products does Cydney Mar help with?
Cydney Mar focuses on consumer products for retail, TV, and direct-to-consumer brands. Over her career she has created fashion, jewelry, bath bombs, scented candles, homewares, paper products, car accessories, and her own Cydney Mar Wellness vitamins and supplements. Her core craft is product development: tech packs, sampling, sourcing, costing, and production readiness.
How do I choose the right supplier?
Vet suppliers for quality, communication, and reliability, the three criteria in Cydney Mar's pathway. Ask for samples, notice how quickly and clearly they answer questions, confirm minimum order quantities and lead times in writing, and compare more than one option. A cheaper supplier who misses dates can end up costing more than a reliable one.
